Compost Area Veolia Recyclables Salvage Hazardous

Compost Area

Open daily from 8 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. Monday through Friday, other times by appointment with the Village Crew. Grass clippings, garden waste and leaves will be accepted. All bags should be emptied and disposed of in the container provided OR grass clippings, garden waste and leaves can be bagged in CLEAR plastic bags for curbside pickup by 7 A.M. on the first and third Monday of the month April through November. Colored bags WILL NOT be picked up. Please no ashes or garbage allowed in the compost area. Ashes go in the weekly garbage pickup. The compost site is located one half mile west of County Road V (South LaSalle Street) at the junction of Willow Drive. Follow the signs along the service road.

Brush Collection

Brush must be cut into a maximum of 6 feet lengths and tied in bundles of no larger then three feet in diameter and will be chipped curbside. No single piece will be chipped or taken if larger than 6 inches in diameter. Bundles must be placed curbside by 7 A.M. on the first and third Monday of the month, April through November. We urge strict compliance with these guidelines. For information call the Village Shop at (715) 659-5443.

Veolia

Veolia collects garbage curbside every week. For those on the "west side" of the tracks, collection is on Wednesday. For those on the "east side" of the tracks, collection is on Friday.

Veolia will pick the following up at your curb:

Storm and Screen Windows Push Lawn Mowers
Bicycles Small Automotive Parts
Toilets and Sinks Fiberglass Bath Tubs
Paint (in solid form) Furniture

Veolia will NOT* pick the following up at your curb:
Tires Stumps
Riding Lawn Mowers Windows with frames
Porcelain covered cast iron bath tubs Swing Sets
Large Automotive Parts Brush and Compost Items
Building Materials

Stoves Freezers

Recyclables

Recyclables are collected every oth      <td width="20%"><a href="#recycle"><b>Recyclables</b></a></td>er week, on the same day as your garbage collection. For those on the "west side" of the tracks, collection is on Wednesday. For those on the "east side" of the tracks collection is on Friday. The following list outlines the specific items collected.      <td width="20%"><a href="#recycle"><b>Recyclables</b></a></td> Recyclables should be separated according to this list.

Aluminum Cans
  • Shall include used beverage cans only.
  • Container Glass
  • Includes container glass only. Glass must be washed or rinsed, with caps and neck rings removed. Lables can remain on glass. Glass must be color separated into clear, brown and green. Glass should not be broken. Glass does not include ceramic cups, dishes, ovenware, plate glass, saftey and window glass, heat-resistant glass such as pyrex, lead based glass such as crystal, or TV tubes.
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Includes clean corrugated cardboard only, and must be flattened and bundled in bundles not more than twelve (12) inches high and twenty four (24) inches wide and thirty six (36) inches long. Does not include waxed board or "chipboard" such as cereal boxes, shoeboxes, and similar materials. Cereal boxes, shoe boxes and other similar boxes sould be disposed of in your regular garbage.
  • Mixed Papers
  • Includes all grades of papers: including white, colored, ledger, shiny, coated, carbonless or NCR papers; envelopes, including windowed, labled, and draft; magazines, phone books, computer print out paper, glued pads and tablets, file folders, keypunch card, post-it notes, spiral notebooks, etc. Can include paperclips and staples. Does not include hand towels or other paper products from restrooms, or soiled napkins and paper plates. Also, does not include carbon paper, cellophane, or any waxed paper. Shall be placed for collection in paper grocery bags, boxes, or bundled in bundles not more than twelve (12) inches high.
  • Newspapers
  • Includes newspapers and newspaper advertisements. Doesn not include catalougues, magazines, cardboard, or other paper products. Shall be placed for collection in paper grocery bags or bundled in bundles not more than twelve (12) inches high.
  • Plastic Bottles
  • Must include only plastic bottles clearly marked with the recycling emblem encircling the #1 (PET or PETE) or the #2 (HDPE). Caps and neck rings must be removed. Lables can remain on plastic. Rise all bottles.
  • Tin Cans
  • Includes tin coated metal cans, which must be rinsed, lables must be removed, both ends cut out, and cans must be flattened. Cut out ends are recyclable. Tin cans with molded or round bottoms can be recycled without the molded or round bottom removed, provided the cans have been rinsed and lables have been removed.
  • Automotive Batteries
  • Automotive batteries are to placed out with your recyclables.
  • Used Motor Oil
  • Used motor oil is to be placed curbside with your recycables in a sealed container clearly marked as used oil.
